University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Advertising Assistant Professor Juliana Fernandes is the recipient of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Advertising Division 2023 Distinguished Teaching Award.

The Distinguished Teaching Award rewards excellence in undergraduate teaching over a sustained period of time. The selection committee considered the following criteria when selecting Fernandes as the award-winner:

• Subject mastery and competence
• Classroom management and communication skills
• Creation of a positive learning environment
• Dedication to teaching
• Assessment of student learning success inside and outside the classroom.

The honor, which includes a $500 prize, will be presented at the annual AEJMC Conference in Washington, D.C. from Aug. 7-10.
