Two UFCJC Courses Receive 2021 UF Exemplary Online Awards

Two University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications undergraduate online courses have received 2021 Exemplary Online Awards from the UF Center for Teaching Excellence. The awards recognize exemplary and innovative practices in online teaching and course production.

“Broadcast Writing Bootcamp (JOU 2100),” taught by Journalism Lecturer and Associate Chair Harrison Hove, was recognized for exposing students to broadcast writing and introducing the differences between “writing for the eye” versus “writing for the ear.” The class also received the Instructional Strategy award.

“Great Ideas in Marketplace Communications (ADV 4302),” taught by Advertising Adjunct Lecturer Robert Padovano, was also honored as one of the top 20 exemplary online courses. The course is designed for students to research, develop, promote, and present advertising plans to three local clients from the perspective of digital media, promotional activities, and the marketplace. Students also evaluate the cultural impact of iconic and current ad campaigns.

The UF Center for Online Innovation and Production assists in the developing courses in partnership with UF faculty, ensuring that UF Online students have a dynamic and engaging learning experience.
