Two CJC Student Journalists Place in Hearst Audio News and Features Competition

Two University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) student journalists were recognized in the 2021-2022 Hearst Journalism Awards Audio News and Features competition.

Media Production, Management, and Technology seniors Meleah Leyden and Christina Pugliese placed seventh and thirteenth, respectively. There were 67 entries from 41 universities submitted in this competition.

UFCJC has placed second in the Intercollegiate Broadcast Competition after the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The placement is determined by the accumulated student points from the Audio and TV 1 Competitions.

The 62nd annual Hearst Journalism Awards includes five writing, one audio, two television, and four multimedia competitions offering up to $700,000 in scholarships, matching grants and stipends.
