The Delores Auzenne Dissertation Award was established to assist underrepresented doctoral students with little or no funding to complete their dissertations. The program provides funding to Ph.D. candidates in the advanced stages of their dissertations.

Delores Auzenne, who died in 1984, was the first assistant to the Florida director of equal opportunity programs. She helped create the Board of Regents Grant-in-Aid program that provided more than $2 million for 377 black graduate students over an eight-year period.

Auguste will receive a stipend of $6,000 and tuition waiver and fees for two credit hours at the in-state rate.
