Lissy Calienes presents at World Woman Foundation’s “That’s What She Said: Voice of Mother as a Force of Nature” at Cannes Lions
Elizabeth “Lissy” Calienes, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Advertising instructional professor, was a presenter for the World Woman Foundation’s “That’s What She Said: Voice of Mother as a Force of Nature,” a first-time event at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France on June 23.
Calienes was one of 10 women who were selected to tell their stories about their journeys in advertising and motherhood. In her presentation, “The Tree Was Never the Whole Story,” she shared her journey shaped by storytelling, strategy and global perspective asking what if creativity is not a single path, but a forest of cultures, disciplines and lived experience?
The presentations were part of a new open mic platform under the World Woman Cannes Agenda, offering a global call for women to step forward and share their voice on one of the world’s most influential stages for media, advertising and film.
Together, their stories showed that leadership is not only found in boardrooms. It is also found in caregiving, reinvention and the courage to create while carrying responsibilities that often go unseen.
Calienes has co-led the study abroad experience for UFCJC students at Cannes Lions and for the past two years has served as dean of the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy, part of the Cannes Lions Festival. As dean, she shapes the curriculum and brings in industry leaders as guest speakers to enrich the experience. The Academy is designed to empower and inspire future professionals across marketing, advertising and related creative fields.
