UF NAHJ Gator Chapter named National NAHJ Student Chapter of the Year
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) Gator Chapter was recognized as the 2026 National Student Chapter of the Year for their exceptional leadership and focus on advancing the careers of students to become the next generation of Latino journalists.

This is the first time that UF has received this honor. It comes after two years dedicated to rebuilding the chapter from nothing to an organization of more than 22 members, five board members and over 30 hours of professional development opportunities.
The other finalists were Northwestern University and the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo. George Washington University received the honor in 2025.
The award was presented at the NAHJ 2026 Conference & Expo in New Orleans from July 22 – 25.
