WUFT Media Services and UFCJC Student Receive Communicator and Telly Awards
WUFT Media Services, in the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Division of Media Properties, has received two 31st annual Communicator Awards recognizing excellence, effectiveness and innovation across all areas of communication.
In the General-Live Events category, an Excellence 2025 award recognized WUFT Media Services staff Matt Abramson, Taylor Vorburger, Lorenzo Phrasavath, Taylor Johnson and host Glenn Richards, and UFCJC immersion students Sofie Dominguez, Carmen Zachry, James Sullivan, Sam Olinick and Gracie Kurta for an episode of “WUFT Amplified” featuring The Savants of Soul.
In the General-Documentary category, Media Production, Management and Technology senior Sophia Abolfathi received an Excellence 2025 award for “March of the Mangroves,” an independent study project advised by Abramson and Cynthia Barnett. Production staff included Phrasavath, Augustus Hoff, Brian Black, Jonathan Ubeda, Alexmary Fayiga and Sebastian Echeverria.
“March of the Mangroves” also received a 2025 Bronze Telly Award. The award honors student projects that showcase emerging talent.
