UFCJC to Host Summer Institute in Computational Social Science
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) will host the Summer Institute in Computational Social Science (SICSS) from July 1-12.
The Summer Institute will bring together graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and early-career faculty who are interested in computational social science.
Jieun Shin, UFCJC Media Production, Management, and Technology assistant professor. and Nathan Carpenter, UFCJC Social Media Listening Lab Director, will organize the workshop in collaboration with other SICSS faculty members.
Designed to train the next generation of social science researchers and incubate cutting-edge research across disciplinary boundaries, the in-person event will focus on social media data, text analysis, data wrangling, networks and ethics.
Since its inception at Princeton in 2017, SICSS has trained more than 200 researchers worldwide. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation and UFCJC strategic grants.
