CJCxDC Programs
This immersion program gives CJC undergraduate and graduate students in journalism, public relations, advertising, media production, and mass communications the chance to spend a semester living, interning, and studying in Washington, DC.
CJCxDC offers a 10-week program in the spring and summer and one-week programs year-round built around site visits, speaker sessions, mentorship, and internships or professional exploration opportunities.
Semester-Long Programs
Spring & Summer 10-week program includes:
- 1- and 3-credit courses including JOU4930: Navigating DC’s Media and Communications Landscape
- Weekly site visits to government, media, policy, and PR/communications organizations
- Guest speaker sessions with DC professionals and UF alumni
- The NaviGators mentorship program, pairing students with experienced professionals
- A Professional Exploration Track for students pursuing shadowing, conferences, and coffee chats alongside or instead of a traditional internship
- Professional Development Essentials (resume edits, LinkedIn workshops, Capitol Headshot, and published work)
One Week in DC Programs
CJCxDC One Week Intensive
For students who cannot commit to a full semester away, the CJCxDC One Week Intensive brings the immersion experience to Washington, DC in a single week. Students get a condensed version of the CJCxDC semester program. This is an introduction to the city’s media, communications, policy, and advocacy landscape. Built around site visits, speaker sessions, and networking, students will get hands-on professional exposure to the communications industry in Washington, DC. Sports Diplomacy Week with Sports@CJC
Explore the world of sports media, communication, and diplomacy in Washington, DC. This week-long experience gives students a front-row look at how sports, international relations, and media intersect on a global scale. Participate in tours and meetings to learn about the many exciting career paths–with sports teams, leagues, and media companies. This is a 1-credit course.
