Estimated Cost
Tuition
Tuition for CJCxDC is the same as on-campus tuition and varies based on total credits. Students who receive or need to receive aid should meet with the UF Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships to discuss their situation prior to applying to the program.
Housing
Live and work in the city where national news happens – just minutes from the Capitol, the White House, the Smithsonian museums and many other exciting places. There are numerous housing options available, whether it be a college dorm (summer only), intern housing, or an apartment sublease.
Students are responsible for planning, booking and paying for their housing for all semesters. CJCxDC does not sponsor housing, but we have gathered a list of popular options at various price points and locations you can consider:
Transportation
Major airlines offer direct & layover flights from Florida to Washington, DC. You may arrive in one of three airports: Reagan National (DCA), Dulles International (IAD), or Baltimore-Washington (BWI). The Metro is the most common way to get around Washington, DC. Use Smart Trip to pay for Metro Rail, Metro Bus, Metro parking garages and lots, and partner regional bus and train providers across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. You can also use ride-sharing apps like Uber or Lyft.
Ground Transportation
Washington DC is a very walkable city. Students can get around easily on foot or hop on the Metro to explore the greater DMV area. The system runs six color lines: Red, Orange, Blue, Silver, Yellow, and Green. With stops reaching into both Maryland and Virginia, the Metro (rail and bus) makes travel simple. Students can purchase a rechargeable SmarTrip card online through the SmarTrip app. Metro fares may vary and students can purchase daily, weekly, or monthly unlimited passes if they plan to ride often. Personal Expenses
This includes groceries/meals, entertainment, personal excursions, etc. This price varies with every student. Students should budget for these expenses. Some meals and activities will be covered by the program.
Scholarships
We know living in Washington DC can be expensive. We have curated a list of scholarship opportunities to help you meet your financial needs. We encourage you to apply to one or more scholarships, but please do not rely solely on scholarship funds for the program.
CJCxDC Scholarship
CJCxDC offers scholarships to students selected for the program. Demonstrated financial need is required for eligibility.
