Gator career treks offer “professional field trips” where students visit sports-related companies and organizations to explore workplace culture, job roles and required skills. Students will get hands-on experience and firsthand insights into potential career paths through guided tours, presentations, Q&A sessions with industry professionals, and networking opportunities.
Gator Career Trek – Miami
March 15–19, 2026
Our second Gator Career Trek will be to Miami. Planned events include a day at the Miami Open as well as visits to: Kaseya Center, Amerant Bank Arena, Loan Depot Park, and more. (subject to change)
Any student can apply to the Sports@CJC Gator Career Treks Miami program, but preference will be given to College of Journalism and Communications students.
Direct exposure to companies
Visit the offices and workspaces of various companies, observing daily operations and how different teams function.
Meeting professionals
Engage with employees at different levels, from entry-level to senior management, through panel discussions, presentations and informal networking sessions.
Learning about job roles
Gain a deeper understanding of specific job titles and responsibilities within an industry, including the skills and qualifications required.
Company culture immersion
Observe the company’s work environment, values and culture firsthand.
Career exploration
Discover new career paths you may not have considered previously, broadening your understanding of industry options.
Networking opportunities
Build connections with professionals in your field of interest, potentially leading to internship or job opportunities.
Skill development
Practice professional communication skills through interactions with company representatives and potentially participating in mock interviews.
