The advances in technology, coupled with the current economic conditions, are transforming the journalism and communications industries in ways not previously seen, providing challenges – but also opportunities – for universities to retool their curricula, build pervasive digital cultures and prepare students to advance in the new media and communications world.

For the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications this means creative a hub of innovative digital laboratories, convergent newsrooms and media properties that allows students to harness the potential of digital media.  It means embracing an integrated curriculum; creating new offerings in social media, media studies, and global and web communication; and crafting online, distance and continuing education programs and enhancing international offerings.
