Christine Bucan Named One of the 2025 PRNEWS People of the Year

Christine Bucan, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Public Relations Professional in Residence, has been named one of six 2025 PRNEWS People of the Year in the Mentor category.

The awards honor visionary leaders who have pushed boundaries, driven change and redefined the Public Relations industry with creativity, innovation and strategic brilliance.

Bucan was honored for guidance and motivation for both students and colleagues and her impact on their career paths. She has served as faculty advisor for UFCJC Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Bateman Case Study Competition and led the team to a national first place victory in 2023 and 2024.

Bucan was previously an executive vice president at Beber Silverstein Group in Miami where she managed the agency’s public relations and social media divisions. She has served as public relations counsel to some of the world’s leading companies, including American Airlines, Mercedes-Benz and McDonald’s. She also ran her own public relations firm in Prague and was recruited by the Prime Minister of Croatia to improve the country’s image following its civil war.

The awards will be presented at the Platinum Awards Gala on Oct. 7 in New York City.
