CJC Alumni, Faculty and Students Honored at National Public Relations Conferences

University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications alumni, faculty and students were recognized at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) conferences in Austin, Texas in October.

Del Galloway, B.S. Journalism 1981, M.A.M.C 1983 and 2002 Hall of Fame inductee, received the Gold Anvil Award, PRSA’s highest individual honor recognizing lifetime achievement in public relations. CJC Alum and new faculty member Mickey Nall, M.A.M.C. 1982 and 2009 Hall of Fame inductee, received the David Ferguson Award recognizing a PRSA member who has made outstanding contributions to public relations education.

CJC students also received accolades at the conference. The PRSSA chapter won a Star Chapter Award, the gold standard for student public relations organizations. Senior Nicole Graney, last year’s chapter president, and master’s student Ashleigh Kathryn, both won the National President’s Citation, “a special honor conferred upon students who have left a lasting mark on the Society through their exceptional contributions to PRSSA at the Chapter and National level.”

Kathryn and Demi Wolfe, B.S. Public Relations 2018, both won National Gold Key Awards, which honors students “who excel in their academic study of public relations, have pursued ambitious professional development opportunities and are leaders in their PRSSA Chapter.” Kathryn also received the Neumeier Family Leadership Award, given by CJC alum Mike Neumeier, B.S. Public Relations 1993, and his wife, Kelly. Senior Andrea Mora received a PRSA Diversity Multicultural Scholarship and sophomore Carolyn Lok received a PRSA Foundation Student Travel Grant.
