Research
Ziqi’s research spans political communication, digital culture, and crisis communication. He employs text analysis to investigate emerging youth subcultures on the Chinese internet, with particular attention to how online communities express identity and everyday life. His work also analyzes social media discussions during crises, focusing on public discourse and the attribution of responsibility. In addition, using a decade of Facebook data, he examines how media partisanship and governmental political alignment influence agenda-setting in news coverage of natural disasters.
