About
UF in the U.K. (Sports and Culture) is a six-credit program that immerses students in the sporting culture in the United Kingdom. It is a combination of two classes with Professor Esterline who has multiple years of professional and academic experience and a love of sports. The summer 2027 program will focus on tennis. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the tennis culture by visiting stadiums and historic venues. Students will also produce content about the local fans, towns/cities, stadiums and match day activities. Students will see and feel the real-life synergies and overlapping relationships of sports media, communications, tennis, sport and culture. They will work through conversations and an understanding of the importance of tennis and sports culture in the United Kingdom.
Because the program is for four weeks, the students will also have plenty of opportunity to immerse themselves in the English culture. We intend to learn not only about tennis in the U.K. but also have the opportunity to experience London and other cities in the U.K. and all they have to offer culturally. Students will take in a holistic cultural, historical, and sporting view around the UK and work on assignments at places like Wimbledon, Stamford Bridge, Lord’s Cricket Ground, and more.
The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2027.
