Jonelle Henry to moderate panel on building the next generation of journalists at NABJ Region 1 Conference
Jonelle Henry, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications CJCxDC student immersion program director, will serve as the moderator for a panel at Emerge: Building the Next 50 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Region 1 conference, in partnership with the Young Black Journalists Task Force, at the Temple University Student Center in Philadelphia on May 2 at 10:30 a.m.
The session, “From Newsrooms to Classrooms: Building the Next Generation of Journalists,” will explore how newsroom veterans can leverage their real-world experience to empower students, develop innovative curricula and create meaningful pathways into the profession. Their discussion will focus on how journalist-educators play a critical role in preparing the next generation of storytellers when newsrooms evolve and academic programs adapt to industry changes.
Panelists include Temple University Klein College of Media and Communications Director of Career Services Chris Blackman and Assistant Professor of Practice Denise James, Penn State Foster Professor of Practice Walter Middlebrook and Chuck Stevens, Columbia Journalism School Adjunct Associate Professor.
The NABJ Region I Conference, in partnership with the Young Black Journalists Task Force, will unite seasoned veterans and emerging talent to advance equitable storytelling and navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving media landscape.
