Francis Dalisay Comments on Study of the Possible Effects of Improved Nutrition for Cancer Patients
Francis Dalisay, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Public Relations and STEM Translational Communication Center associate professor, is quoted in “UF Researchers Aim to Improve Nutrition for Cancer Patients” published on ufhealth.org on Sept. 4.
The article features the Florida Partnership for Adding Social Context to Address Cancer Survivorship Outcomes study, also known as ASCENT, and a first-of-its-kind food pharmacy at UF that helps cancer patients gain access to nutritious foods, giving them the best possible shot at a healthy future.
In the study, researchers will conduct interviews with patients, providers and community-based organizations to understand how to best use resources to meet the nutritional needs of those with cancer, such as food security and diet quality.
According to Dalisay, who helped develop the interview guides, “Community outreach and engagement with various groups is a cornerstone of the study.”
