UFCJC Places Fourth Overall in 2025 BEA School Rankings
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) has retained the fourth overall ranking in the fourth annual Broadcast Education Association (BEA) rankings of schools based on the creative achievement of their students.
UFCJC placed second in News, second in Documentary, fifth in Film & Video, and seventh in Sports. The rankings are derived from the results of the BEA Festival of Media Arts, a preeminent international media competition focused on student and faculty creative endeavors.
The rankings, which began in 2022, are based on the past five-year period of student success. They measure the of the quality and consistency of students’ creative works produced at one institution compared to those at other institutions.
The College also placed fourth overall in 2024, sixth in 2023 and eighth in 2022.
In the past five years, more than 7,250 student creative works have been submitted to the BEA Festival from over 300 member institutions worldwide. Entries go through a blind-juried review in the following competitions: Audio, Documentary, Film & Video, Interactive Multimedia & Emerging Technologies, News, Scriptwriting and Sports. The overall school ranking is based on a combined achievement across multiple media creative disciplines.
In the 2025 BEA Festival of Media Arts competition, UFCJC students received multiple honors, including two “Best of Festival” awards, three second place, two third place and 17 Award of Excellence honors. Over the past seven years, UFCJC students have won nearly 85 Festival of Arts awards.
BEA is the premiere international academic media organization, driving insights, excellence in media production, and career advancement for educators, students, and professionals. The Festival of Media Arts was created and is organized by BEA faculty across the globe to honor the amazing works of both students and faculty.
