UFCJC Students Honored in 2024-25 Hearst Journalism Awards Competition
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) student journalists have received honors in the 2024-25 Hearst Journalism Awards program, often referred to as the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism. The program includes five writing, two photojournalism, one audio, two television and four multimedia competitions.
UFCJC results to date:
- Writing – Features: Lauren Brensel, first place; Sarah Henry, seventh place
- Writing – Personality/Profile: Hanna Maglio, third place
- Audio News/Features: Ailee Shanes, eighth place
- Multimedia – Narrative Video Storytelling: Kimberly Blum, eighth place
- Multimedia – Digital News/Enterprise: Bailey Korinek, eighth place, Nicole Borman, 10th place
- Photojournalism I – News & Features: Ashleigh Lucas, ninth place
- Television I – Features: Alexander Land, 10th place; Kirsten Maselka, 14th
Current UFCJC Intercollegiate standings:
- Writing: Second place
- Broadcast: Fifth place
- Multimedia: Fourth place
- Photojournalism: 10th place
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, now in its 65th year, offers up to $700,000 in scholarships, matching grants and stipends. 105 member universities of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication with accredited undergraduate journalism programs are eligible to participate in the Hearst competitions.
