Five UFCJC Journalism Students Selected for the 2025 Florida Bar Reporters’ Workshop

October 16, 2025

Five University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Journalism seniors have been selected to attend The Florida Bar Reporters’ Workshop in Tallahassee on Nov. 3-4, 2025.

The workshop is intended for early-career journalists to learn details of Florida’s legal system and to find out about resources that are available to produce fair and accurate stories. They will meet with lawyers, judges and other subject-matter experts over two days followed by dinner with some of Florida’s Supreme Court justices.

Topics include covering high-profile cases, public records and Florida’s open government laws, libel law and defamation, lawyer regulation and other current and relevant issues surrounding legal reporting. They will also tour the Supreme Court.

The five students, all part of the Fresh Take Florida reporting program run by Ted Bridis, UFCJC Michael and Linda Connelly Senior Lecturer in Investigative Reporting, are Bea Anhuci, Olivia Evans, Kairi Lowery, Sara-James Ranta and Delia Sauer.

Each student was selected based on their interest and previous coverage of legal affairs, including major trials, lawsuits, passage of new laws and the execution of a condemned killer earlier this year.
