Ted Bridis Elected FSNE Board of Directors Secretary/Treasurer
Ted Bridis, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Michael and Linda Connelly senior lecturer in Investigative Reporting, was elected secretary/treasurer of the board of directors for the Florida Society of News Editors (FSNE) during the annual Florida Media Conference in Punta Gorda, Florida.
FSNE is a non-profit organization led by top editors of the state’s biggest newsrooms intended to advance the cause of responsible journalism. Bridis has served on the FSNE’s board since 2021. He also is chairman of the group’s Sunshine Committee, which tracks threats to Florida’s public records law and government transparency, and he is on the group’s new Innovation Committee, which will study the use of AI and other technologies in newsrooms.
Before joining UFCJC in 2018, Bridis was editor of the Associated Press’ Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington investigative team and was AP’s leading newsroom expert on security practices for source-protection and on the U.S. Freedom of Information Act and related laws. He is also one of the faculty advisors for Fresh Take Florida, a news service that focuses on Florida’s state government, the Legislature and other issues of statewide, regional or national interest.
