February Employee Spotlight – Meet Jasmine McNealy

Each month, we will feature an employee who will share their story, role at CJC and contributions. This month’s spotlight is Jasmine McNealy, Media Production, Management, and Technology professor and director of the Infrastructure for Communities, Ecology for Data (ICED) Hub.

Jasmine McNealy is an attorney, technologist, and internationally recognized scholar whose interdisciplinary research is centered at the intersection of media, technology, policy, and law. Of particular focus, are the areas of privacy, surveillance and data governance and the impacts on marginalized and vulnerable communities. She is also a faculty associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

Fun fact: Jasmine has the rare ability to match any word with a song. This skill will one day allow her to win “Song Association” (but Terrell’s version, not the Elle version).

Double Deductions – Nine-Month Employees

To ensure coverage for state health, life and supplemental insurance continues during the summer, double deductions will be collected from nine-month and 10-month employees’ paychecks beginning with the Feb. 7 paycheck and continuing through May 2. Normal payroll deductions resume in September.

Active 9/10-month employees have double-premium deductions during the spring to cover summer when no payroll is issued.

It is Tax Time!

As tax filing season approaches, the “IRS Get Ready” campaign reminds taxpayers of simple steps they can take now to get ready to file their 2024 federal tax returns. As the IRS continues its digital transformation, it is making filing easier for taxpayers by providing new online tools as well as expanding and updating other digital tools.

IRS Reporting Form-1095-C

  • IRS Reporting Form-1095C reports employee’s health insurance information for the prior calendar year.
  • State1095s are available in PeopleFirst if you opted for electronic delivery
  • GatorCare1095s are sent by postal mail only (no electronic option)
  • Employees may file income tax returns prior to receiving 1095-C if they know they had coverage for the entire year
  • Employees enrolled in ACA Marketplace plans must report UF’s offer of employer-sponsored health coverage to the IRS
