CJC Students and Alumni Honored in 2021 BEA Festival of Media Arts Competition
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications students and alumni were recently honored in the 2021 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts Competition.
The 2021 Best of Festival winners were selected from a pool of over 1,300 entries, representing over 250 colleges and universities in the following competitions: audio, documentary, film & video, interactive multimedia, news, scriptwriting, sports and two-year colleges.
Student Documentary Competition winners include:
Micro-Documentary: Second Place, Journalism senior Victor Prieto, “Beyond the Finish Line”
Faculty Advisor: Harrison Hove
Short Form Documentary: Award of Excellence, Kaitlyn Estrellado, B.S. Telecommunication 2020, Bonnie Lynch, B.S. Telecommunication 2020, and Telecommunication senior Maria Solano, “The Making of ‘The Golem of Prague’”
Faculty Advisor: Houston Wells
Student News Competition winners include:
TV Newscast (3 per week or less): Third Place (tie), Student Staff for WUFT NEWS, “WUFT NEWS First at Five”
Faculty Advisor: Harrison Hove
TV News Magazine: Award of Excellence, Student Team for WUFT NEWS, “The Forgotten City”

TV Sports Story/Feature (Long): Award of Excellence, Journalism senior Victor Prieto, “Saints Weather the Storms”

The winners will be formally announced during a live virtual event on March 29.
