Ted Spiker Will Speak at UF Summer Commencement and New Student Convocation

Ted Spiker, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism Department chair, will be the speaker for the UF summer 2019 doctoral and the bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s commencement ceremonies on Aug. 9 and 10 in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

 

Spiker joined UF in 2001 and has served as department chair since 2014. He was named the 2016-17 UF Teacher of the Year and is a two-time winner of the CJC Teacher of the Year award. As a moderator for the UF ACCENT Speakers Bureau and other UF events, Spiker has interviewed celebrities such as Abby Wambach, Pitbull, Erin Andrews, Alex Rodriguez, Terry Crews, Josh Peck and more.

Spiker will also be the speaker at the New Student Convocation on Aug. 19. This event celebrates the class of 2023’s entry into higher education and inducts them into a community of learners at UF.
