CJC Summer Workshop Participant Lands Front-Page Story
Danielle Ivanov, a participant in the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications’ (UFCJC) Summer Media Institute , was just completing an assignment for the College’s workshop for high-school students. That assignment ended up on the front page of The Gainesville Sun.
Ivanov recently graduated from Gainesville High School and has enrolled in UFCJC.
The story, “Protester finds FBI on tail after Yoho’s gun-range invite,” tells the story of a local high-school student who ended up on the FBI watch list after a comment to a teacher.
The College’s Summer Media Institute is a five-night, six-day workshop in which more than 120 high school students are immersed in journalism and communications. Students choose from a variety of courses, taught by UF faculty and by professionals, including multimedia storytelling; online, broadcast or sports reporting; photojournalism; magazine production; podcasting and on-air performance.
