Football, Sports and Culture in the UK
Join us on a month-long United Kingdom excursion, where you will visit and explore the country’s footballing culture and delve into the UK and all it has to offer. The program will be based in London with planned trips to Manchester, Liverpool and Brighton. This study abroad will be during the conclusion of the Premier League season with other divisional and promotion championships occurring. Application deadline is Feb. 6, 2023.
The study program program, which is scheduled for May 11 – June 11, 2023, is designed to offer instruction, analysis and training in sports information gathering and research, writing, interviewing and reporting in a digital age. Special emphasis will be placed on improving sports writing skills and reporting judgment, research and analysis of sports events and issues, basic sports production, radio reporting assignments and generation of sports content for the Internet.
Students will learn about international creative thinking and storytelling from UF professors, meet with sports production companies, and immerse themselves in footballing and sporting landmarks and culture.
Students can earn 6 credits of CJC electives, which can count towards experiential learning credit for Journalism and Media Production, Management, and Technology majors.
Accommodations, limited meals, excursions, public transportation pass, international health insurance, and emergency medical service are all included.
Airfare and event tickets are not included.
