Award-Winning Documentary “My Kid is Not Crazy” Now Available on Amazon Prime UK

University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Telecommunication Associate Professor Tim Sorel’s film, “My Kid is Not Crazy: A Search for Hope in the Face of Misdiagnosis,” is now available in the United Kingdom on Amazon Prime UK Video. Amazon, which is the exclusive over-the-top distributor for the film through 2020, launched it in the UK based on demand for the film in the U.S.

In addition, New York City-based Big Media has reached a distribution agreement to broadcast the film on its Fusion channel multiple times in 2019 and 2020.  Fusion is a cable channel in 44 million U.S. households and is carried on Cox Communications, Time Warner, Direct TV and more.

Sorel’s film follows alarming experiences of children struggling with neurological disease and the many doctors who offer different diagnoses. A medical versus psychiatric controversy has erupted as one NIH doctor suggests strep is the root cause. The disease has been named Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococci (PANDAS).

The film received the 2017 BEA Festival of Media Arts Best of Festival Award for Faculty Documentary and a 2018 National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Suncoast Chapter Regional Emmy Award in the Topical Documentary category.
