UFCJC alum named new POLITICO Newsroom Architect

February 4, 2026

Andrew Briz, B.S. Telecommunication 2018, has been named the inaugural POLITICO newsroom architect. In this new role, Briz will lead the editorial-facing technology strategy across product development and technical infrastructure.

Briz is tasked with building an evaluation framework in partnership with newsroom leaders, creating a blueprint for rapid prototyping and developing newsroom products that leverage reporting efforts. He will also work closely with Product, Data and Technology to ensure cohesive architecture and a roadmap.

Following graduation in 2018, he joined the POLITICO Interactive News Team and built software that powered major coverage for events including elections. He used artificial intelligence to improve workroom flows from investigative search tooling to automated monitoring. He has also developed training sessions to help reporters and editors move faster without compromising quality.
