Antoine Haywood Selected for SEC Faculty Travel Grant and Publishes Community Media Report and Book Chapter
Antoine Haywood, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism assistant professor, has been selected by UF to participate in the 2025-26 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Faculty Travel Program. He will receive funding to support his research and teaching collaboration with Dr. Jabari Evans from the University of South Carolina’s College of Information and Communications.
The SEC Faculty Travel Program was created by the SEC Presidents and Chancellors and gives faculty from one SEC university the opportunity to travel to another SEC campus to develop grant proposals, conduct research and deliver lectures or performances.
In addition, Haywood co-authored the Community Media Assets Survey Report with Kristen Clark. The report, a result of a research collaboration with News Futures and the Alliance for Community Media, focuses on community media centers (CMC) that help strengthen the civic health of communities nationwide. He was also the author of a book chapter in “Local TV: Histories, Communities and Aesthetics.” The book offers critical analyses of an expansive range of practices, policies and debates in local television histories from the U.S.
