The Public Interest Communications Educators Network is a nationwide group of educators, students and professionals who are building the academic discipline of public interest communications. The goal is for students to one day major in public interest communications as they major in journalism, public relations, advertising and other communication fields.

The network has more than 250 members from throughout the U.S., including faculty, administrators, graduate students, researchers and practitioners. It launched in the fall of 2021, led by faculty from the University of Florida and University of Washington.

The network has organized conference panels at the International Communication Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications and the National Communication Association. It also organizes an annual Public Interest Communications Summer Institute.

The network’s steering committee has representatives from the institutions listed below.
