December 14, 2015

Seven University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications students were awarded 2015 Barbara L. Frye Scholarships out of 15 total scholarships awarded this year.

Winners include seniors Marie Edinger, Ebony Joseph, Victoria Molina, Madison Schultz and James Torrez; junior Caitlin Switalski; and freshman Shelby Shea.

The awards, named after Barbara L. Frye, the Tallahassee bureau chief for United Press International for 38 years, provide $2,000 in scholarships to college students and graduating high school seniors planning to pursue a career in reporting and writing.

Money for the scholarships is raised by Capitol Press Corps members through the “(Sometimes) Annual Capitol Press Skits,” held each year during the legislative session.
