January 16, 2026

Four students from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Orange & Blue Film Festival (OBFF) will lead a panel discussion at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 26.

The panel, “Flipping the Kids’ Table: How a Student Blueprint is Reimaging the Festival Experience,” features Luis Lageyre, UFCJC graduate student, founder and executive director, and Media Production, Management, and Technology students Aiden Copeland, Natalia Kassar and Dahlia Harris. They will highlight how the festival is reimagining economic resilience, audience engagement and talent engagement at small/medium sized independent film festivals.

In just two years, OBFF has grown into Florida’s largest student-run festival by treating its operations as a live research and development lab. This session goes behind the scenes with the student leaders building a university-backed, Gen Z–driven model that is testing new answers to the industry’s core challenges: sustainability, audience relevance and talent development.

The Sundance Film Festival, held in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, is a premier annual event for independent film, showcasing new voices and fresh perspectives through features, documentaries, shorts, and episodic content alongside filmmaker talks and industry networking.
