Antoine Haywood Featured in “It’s Time for Civic Media” Publication

Antoine Haywood, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism assistant professor, is a featured contributor to “It’s Time for Civic Media,” a magazine from The Objective x News Futures Collective published in August 2025.

The 52-page print magazine brings together diverse voices exploring new models of community journalism that are helping restore and improve the civic health of our communities across the U.S.

The publication is a collaboration between The Objective, a nonprofit newsroom examining systems of power and inequity in journalism, and News Futures, which offers access to reliable news and location information that is actionable and relevant.

According to Haywood, “The future of local news isn’t just about surviving – it’s about thriving in service of our communities. That’s why I contributed to ‘It’s Time for Civic Media,’ where 14 practitioners share their vision for building sustainable, equitable local news and information systems.”
