The CJC-HR Team presents the April Inside Edition! We encourage you to share your own news and ideas for future issues. Your contributions will make our newsletter even more engaging and informative. You can also read all these stories on our Inside Edition web page. We hope you find this information useful.

Important Upcoming Dates and Deadlines:

March 1 – April 30: UF Engaged Assessments Open

July 1 – Aug. 15: Open Enrollment for 12-month payment option for 9-month month faculty. Twelve Month Payment Option for Nine- and Ten-Month Faculty – Finance & Accounting

December Employee Spotlight: Meet Barbara Cribbs

Each month, we will feature an employee who will share their story, role at CJC and contributions. This month’s spotlight is Barbara Cribbs.

Barbara Cribbs has worked with the University of Florida for 30 years. She started her journey at UF as a clerk and worked her way up to an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Advertising.  Before coming to CJC, almost three years ago, she worked at the Student Health Care Clinic for 25 years. “Working for CJC was the best move I could have made!” states Barbara. “I love the faculty, staff, and students at CJC”. “The level of family and community at CJC is something I needed when I made the change”.  When I am not at CJC, I enjoy spending time with my two grown sons and sweet pup aka “the house hippo,” Lucky!

Fun Fact:

Barbara has always been an entrepreneur at heart, which is why you will find her selling at a craft or vendor fair most weekends.

UF Engaged

UF Engaged check-ins for this semi-annual cycle need to be completed by April 30.

Ongoing conversations are a game-changer in performance management because they create a continuous feedback loop, fostering growth and development rather than just assessing.

Here are why conversations are so effective:

  • Stronger Engagement – Frequent discussions show employees that their contributions matter, increasing motivation and commitment.
  • Enhanced Clarity – Regular check-ins ensure expectations are always clear, reducing misunderstandings and keeping everyone aligned.
  • Improved Relationships – Consistent dialogue strengthens trust between managers and employees, making performance discussions feel supportive rather than stressful.

Safety and Security

No Door Propping – Please

It is important not to prop up any of the Lenel-equipped doors open anywhere in Weimer. CJC has invested in recent years to install doors and Lenel systems to help ensure spaces like INC, live broadcast studios, etc. were secure but something as simple as propping a door open erase the effectiveness of that system and investment.  Let us keep looking for one another and if you see something that does not appear to be right, let your colleagues know.

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
— Benjamin Franklin
