Thomas Garvey Receives Two UF Awards for Outstanding and Meritorious Service

Thomas Garvey, a University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) academic advisor, is the recipient of a University Gold Award and a Superior Accomplishment Individual Employee Performance honor in the Student, Academic & Alumni Services category.

Garvey was one of 20 staff and faculty members representing UF locations across Florida recognized for their outstanding service to the University and for their impact on the quality of life for students and employees.

As a recipient of a University Gold Award, one of the University’s highest honors, Garvey was awarded $2,500, along with a Special Recognition Award.

Garvey was also selected for a 2025 UF Division Three Superior Accomplishment Award, the 2025 UFCJC Staff Superior Accomplishment Award and named UFCJC 2025 Professional Advisor of the Year.
