March 17: Message from Randy Wright on “Checking Out” Equipment

While the COVID-19 event is creating circumstances like none we’ve ever seen before, it’s also creating opportunities for us to teach and engage students and colleagues as never before as well.

With so many of our CJC family working off campus for the weeks and even months to come, TAG would like to lay out the process by which faculty and staff can request taking UF-owned technology to an alternate work site.

Initially TAG would like to make the following recommendations:

If faculty or staff have laptops the preferred method is to use those to remote into their systems in Weimer.  This would allow TAG to be able to address any issues with the equipment on site.

For any equipment that does leave Weimer, TAG needs to document the model and serial numbers in addition to accessory equipment (mice, keyboards, monitors, etc) before the equipment leaves the building. That documentation then needs to be processed by Jodi in the business office so that the University has a clear record of the property that is leaving campus.

To initiate this process please submit a TAG help request e-mail at the address below giving the team an overview of what you’d like to do.  They will then work with you to complete the process as quickly as possible.

TAG is happy to assist in anyway it can so that everyone can meet their teaching or operational goals but the process is an important one that we ask that everyone follow.  Please let Rob Carr know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Randy Wright
