Fond Memory: Interviewing Rae Weimer

 Jeff Hardison
B.S. Journalism 1984

Back when I started learning at UF, the College of Journalism was in the stadium. Eventually,  Weimer Hall was built. One of the many classes I took was named “Applied Journalism” or something like that. Back then, the Gainesville Sun gave us students a page. (I also freelanced for the Independent Florida Alligator the High Springs Herald, and other publications).

One story I really enjoyed seeing published in the Gainesville daily newspaper was my interview of Dean Emeritus Rae O. Weimer in regard to the Hall being named in his honor. If the Gainesville Sun has an archive, then that story still exists somewhere. I am certain it was well written. (I also earned credits working for the UF Information and Publications Services, and my final credits earned were off campus as the editor of the Live Oak Star and , which were subsequently bought and closed.)
