2019 CJC Research Symposium

The CJC Research Symposium and Idea Exchange, scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2019, is a forum for the presentation of graduate-level research and debate in any areas of journalism, advertising, public relations, telecommunications and communication research.

Full paper submissions are accepted in the following categories:

  • Student-only paper
  • Student-faculty paper

One Top Paper prize will be awarded for each category.

Top papers will be presented in a panel, and all other papers will be presented as posters. Authors of accepted papers will be provided with funding to cover printing costs. All submissions are included in an annual abstract book.

    Submission Guidelines

    Research papers: Authors should submit each paper as an email attachment (documents may be submitted in Word format) to researchday@jou.ufl.edu no later than midnight EST on January 14, 2019. In the body of the email, authors must provide the title of the paper, and the name, departmental affiliation, and e-mail address for each author.

    Submissions must be original and must not have been previously presented at a conference. However, papers submitted to the CJC Research Symposium are eligible for submission at other regional and national conferences.

    Students and faculty should indicate their status for consideration of top paper awards. Do not include any author identifying information on any page of the attached paper submission.

    Graduate student and faculty submissions

    Authors also should redact identifying information from the document properties. On the cover page of the attached paper, only the title of the paper should appear. Following the cover page, include a 250-word abstract and three (3) key words. The keywords will be used to assign the paper to peer reviewers and topic areas. Length of papers should not exceed 30 pages including references and tables (50 pages for law and policy papers).

    Undergraduate student submissions

    Authors also should redact identifying information from the document properties. On the cover page of the attached paper, only the title of the paper should appear. Following the cover page, include a 500-word abstract and three (3) key words. The abstract should succinctly but fully describe the scope, methods, and outcomes of a research project.
