The Department of Public Relations and Alpha PRoductions, the College of Journalism and Communications’ student-run public relations firm, are hosting a panel on diversity in public relations at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Diversity in Public Relations is a panel-style discussion on the impact of diversity in communications. The panelists have worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, Sears, Walt Disney Imagineering, Godiva Chocolatier and HBO, The Hilton Worldwide, Wendy’s and United Way of North Central  Florida.

Discussion will include panelists’ backgrounds and professions; ways their company promotes diversity in the workplace; and their perspective on the impact diversity plays in the communications field.

“Diversity is an evolving issue in public relations  because the variety of communities and their interests are expanding, placing our education and research mission front and center,” Juan-Carlos Molleda, chair and professor of the UF Department of Public Relations said.

“The richness of perspectives and voices make relationship cultivation between organizations and publics dynamic and our goal is to actively involve our students and partners in this conversation,” Molleda said.
