Join your CJC classmates and professors in the heart of Central Europe, with extended stays in the historic cities of Budapest, Hungary, and Prague, Czechia. Explore their rich histories and remarkable traditions of resilience, while discovering how these relatively young democracies have shaped their modern approaches to professional communication. We’ll explore stunning Gothic architecture, magnificent castles, vibrant cultures, and the stories that have shaped these fascinating cities. Our program offers classes for all CJC majors but is not limited to students in the college.

The program will include class meetings and team project workdays as well as opportunities for self-directed exploration. Some scheduled highlights (subject to change) include:

May 4 – Arrive in Budapest, Hungary

May 5 – Welcome dinner

May 9 – Transfer from Budapest to Prague, Czechia via motorcoach.

May 13 – Guided tour of Prague Castle

May 19 – Visit Cesky Krumlov old town, guided tour

May 26 – Farewell dinner

May 27 – Program ends, return home or continue your travels!

The tentative course list includes:

MMC 4302 World Communications Systems 3 credits (all students take this)
(If you have already taken MMC 4302, you will be registered for a different course code and are still eligible to participate in this program.)

Plus one additional:

ADV 4930 Intercultural Competence in Content Marketing 3 credits

JOU 4930 Storytelling: The Art of Style and Structure 3 credits

PUR 4932 Global PR: Fashion, Lifestyle and Tourism 3 credits

RTV 4930 Photography Composition and Editing 3 credits

RTV 2517 Concepts of Visual Storytelling 3 credits

• Applications open on or about November 6, 2026
• Spring 2027: We will hold two meetings to help you prepare for the program.
• March 1, 2027: Study abroad Canvas shells open with some pre-trip coursework.
• May 4 – May 27, 2027: Program travel to Budapest and Prague.
• June 1, 2027: Classes continue online with some post-trip coursework.
• June 17, 2027:  semester ends.

Financial Aid

Studying abroad is an incredible experience, but it’s understandable to have concerns about funding. Here are some tips to help you navigate the financial aspects of your study abroad program:

Explore Financial Aid Options: Visit UF’s Financial Aid office to discuss available aid opportunities. They can provide guidance on scholarships, grants, and loans that you may qualify for.

Bright Futures Scholarship: If you’re eligible for the Bright Futures program, remember that you can receive around $1,200 in tuition aid for your study abroad experience. Make sure to confirm your eligibility and understand the application process.

Set Up a Savings Plan: If possible, start saving a little each month leading up to your study abroad departure. Every bit can help!

Budgeting: Create a budget for your time abroad. The program cost will include accommodations, local public transportation, and some meals, but personal expenses This can help you identify areas where you can cut costs.
