- Funding available: $25,000 to $100,000
- Period of performance: not specified
- Program Background: Honda’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vision is to help people fulfill their life’s potential. We do this by supporting the communities where we live and work through financial contributions and the volunteer efforts of Honda associates. Honda offers funding opportunities for programmatic support and community event sponsorship
- Program Objective: Honda and the Honda USA Foundation provide funding to eligible organizations that support communities located near our major operations and align with our strategic CSR pillars of education, environment, mobility, traffic safety and community.
- NOTE: Organizations must be located in the United States and have tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) or utilize a tax-exempt, non-profit fiscal sponsor. Submissions will be routed through the UF Foundation to meet this requirement.
Second Opportunity
- Sponsor: UF Research
- Funding Opportunity Title: Research Opportunity Seed Fund
- Key words: interdisciplinary, extramural funding
- Link to RFP
- CJC Deadline: Submit project summary, budget, justification, and biosketches to Dr. Marcia DiStaso by 10/23/2026. One CJC candidate will be selected by 11/12/2026, with the deadline for full submission through InfoReady on 12/8/26, 5PM.
- Funding available: Budgets should not exceed $100,000 for the entire project period; most awards will be for less.
- Period of performance: Budgets may be for a period of up to two years. Awards will be administered for up to two years.
- Program Background: The Research Opportunity Seed Fund (ROSF) awards interdisciplinary, team science-driven, faculty-initiated research projects with strong potential to obtain future extramural support. Guided by the philosophy that diverse partnerships across the disciplines drive groundbreaking research and winning proposals, ROSF awards strive to spark research synergies that can launch exceptional long term research collaborations. The ROSF is intended to encourage the formation of teams, provide the funds necessary to initiate these long-term research collaborations across the disciplines, and provide the initial support needed to ready these new collaborations for competitively seeking extramural support.
- Program Objectives- Potential proposals must meet each of the five following criteria:
- New Collaborations- Proposals must involve faculty from at least two colleges, and faculty must have not previously worked together on a funded proposal. Proposal must illustrate the employment of complementary skills, research areas, and grantsmanship capabilities to create a team well-prepared to execute the proposed research and for competitively seeking external funding.
- Novel Research- Proposals present new and fresh ideas—not supplement PI or Co- PIs’ existing or ongoing research. Proposals must illustrate a sound and plausible research plan that clearly defines what goals, data, and benchmarks the project aims to achieve over the course of the ROSF funding period. Proposals must clearly explain their proposed methods.
- Meaningful Contributions- All investigators engage fully and substantially. Proposals must demonstrate involvement in proposed research and allocations for funding in the budget.
- Funding Potential- Proposals show a feasible and realistic plan for PIs and Co-PIs to continue collaborating to pursue funded research after the conclusion of the ROSF award. Teams and ideas are not “once and done” collaborations. Proposals must have a reasonable, and well-defined timeline for the opportunities the team intends to apply for. The proposal ought to explain how competitive the team is for the proposed opportunities.
- High Impact- Proposals address significant hypotheses, problems, or research questions that cover multiple areas of expertise and can be understood by non-technical readers. Proposals should support the national impact of UF’s research and contribute towards the resolution of issues of scientific, national or global need

First Opportunity
- Sponsor: National Science Foundation
- Funding Opportunity Title: NSF 25-545: NSF STEM K-12 (STEM K-12)
- Key words: STEM participation, STEM K-12, STEM Learning environments
- Link to RFP: https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/stem-k-12-nsf-stem-k-12/nsf25-545/solicitation
- Deadline: Proposals Accepted Anytime
- Funding available: (1) Research and/or Development proposals: $350,000 to $750,000 with a duration of two to three years; and (2) Conference proposals: $25,000 to $99,000 with a duration of up to two years.
- Period of performance: Proposals have a typical duration of one to three years.
- Program Background: The NSF STEM K-12 program encourages innovative, multidisciplinary, and potentially transformative projects that build theory, generate new knowledge, and inform education practices in a rapidly evolving technological landscape with advances in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI). It supports fundamental, applied, and translational research that enhances STEM teaching and learning and across the human lifespan and in a range of formal and informal learning settings. In addition to building theory and informing practice, the program seeks projects that produce new tools and frameworks; harness exemplary formal and informal learning; and unlock new avenues of scientific inquiry and discovery in STEM education to strengthen the Nation’s standing as a global leader in STEM innovation.
- Program Objectives: The program also welcomes quantitative, qualitative, mixed method approaches, and a range of research and/or development efforts across broad areas of scientific inquiry, including but not limited to:
- foundational studies that advance theory or build new conceptual frameworks related to STEM learning and teaching;
- design-based research that iteratively develops and refines learning environments, instructional models, systems, or approaches;
- projects aimed at cultivating the skills, dispositions, and knowledge needed to succeed in computer science, AI pathways, and technology careers, and more generally build capacity in the STEM workforce;
- development and study of innovations for teaching and learning (e.g., curricula, assessments, professional learning resources, technologies, media, etc.) for any STEM field;
- investigations of teaching and learning processes, including cognitive, motivational, or social aspects of learning;
- development and use of advanced research methods and analytical frameworks and tools, such as data science methods and machine learning, to study learning at scale or in complex learning environments; and
- the study of deeper learning and more effective teaching to create opportunities for all Americans everywhere.
- NOTE: For Conference proposals, investigators must contact a cognizant STEM K-12 Program Director prior to submission and follow the guidance for Conference proposals contained in the PAPPG Chapter II.F.8.
