Jasmine McNealy selected for Institute for Diverse Leadership in Journalism and Communication 2026-27 Fellows class

Jasmine McNealy, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Media Production, Management, and Technology professor and director of Infrastructure for Communities, Ecology for Data (ICED) Hub, has been selected as one of seven Institute for Diverse Leadership (IDL) 2026-27 fellows.

IDL is designed for Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) members from historically marginalized and underrepresented groups who want to gain their skills in administering journalism/mass communication programs.

The year-long curriculum includes the study of leadership styles, leadership transition, efficient and successful management, fundraising and budgets and navigation of challenging environments. The program will begin with a workshop on Aug. 5 during the AEJMC Conference in New Orleans.

The Institute is co-sponsored by AEJMC and the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication (ASJMC). Since its inception in 2015, 73 fellows have graduated from the program.
