UFCJC Advertising Visiting Fulbright Scholar to present her research on the effects of digitally altered imagery on March 11

Meda Mucundorfeanu, Babes-Bolyai University associate professor in Communication, Public Relations and Advertising, is a Romanian Fulbright scholar visiting the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Advertising Department for the spring 2026 semester.

She will present “Can Commercial Images Be Made Safer? What 20+ Years of Research on Interventions in Idealized Advertising Reveals” on March 11 at 2 p.m. in Weimer Hall room 3032. Her presentation reveals a systemic review of interventions designed to counteract the harmful effects of digitally altered imagery.

Mucundorfeanu’s research focus includes advertising, social media influencers and youth and media. During her UFCJC tenure, she will focus on projects related to visual media literacy and will collaborate with Benjamin Johnson, professor and director of the STEM Translational Communication Center.
