Johnson, Sun Joo Ahn, Marina Krcmar and Leonard Reinecke, the new editors of the publication from 2021 to 2024, reflect on the publication’s change in leadership, the state and direction of the journal, and explains  changes and priorities, such as an increased commitment to open science practices.

According to the authors, “Interdisciplinary science requires a thoughtful synthesis and integration of different disciplines, rather than a superficial amalgamation of variables and assessments that are borrowed from multiple fields. We welcome exciting theoretical advancements that push the boundaries of our existing knowledge through interdisciplinary collaborations and address underexplored questions of media psychology that were formerly not possible to tackle through a single perspective or orientation.”

Media Psychology is ranked #21 out of 92 top communication journals and has an impact factor of 2.397.
