National Association of Hispanic Journalists chapter forming

The University of Florida will soon have the next student chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. The informational meeting will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 7 p.m. in Reitz Union room 346.

NAHJ offers students a network of the best and brightest Hispanic-Latino journalists in the nation. It’s an opportunity to meet professionals and launch your career.

Joining NAHJ is particularly benefecial now because the national convention will be held on June 14-17 in Fort Lauderdale. Leaders in the journalism world will be attending and eager to meet the latest rising stars who might end up working in their newsrooms. In addition, NAHJ has launched the Parity Project, which recruits talented Hispanic journalists to fill positions in underrepresented news organizations. Last but not least, joining NAHJ gives you access to their job listings through NAHJ.org, which allows you to post a resume.

Pastelitos (if some can be found in Gainesville) and other refreshments will be served.
