After reading in And all that (CSS) Malarkey yesterday about using multiple class attributes on the body tag to create multiple page layouts within a style sheet, I thought I’d give it a try today as a good “Friday” task.

The Spring 2005 online edition of communigator is complete. It must be record time since I’ve only had the files in hand for about two weeks and the first stories just went up last week. Code familiarity must breed speed and productivity.

Dissatisfied with my earlier attempt at making this blog look like it’s UF-templated and have it look and work “right” like a blog, I started over and like the new result a lot better.
In the old template, I had tried to merge WordPress code into the UF template. In this attempt, I have left much [...]

I was going to write a piece on my favorite online color pickers because I found a new one that I like. However, I got scooped by this guy.

Taming Lists by Mark Newhouse (from A List Apart)
Consistent List Indentation by Eric Meyer (from devedge)

The slide show effect on the Orange & Blue front page uses the Fade Images JavaScript technique. The images do a fade transition in IE, but just flip in Firefox. It will probably eventually be replaced this Summer by a Flash movie that accomplishes the same thing.
While researching the above, I also found this [...]

Dan came by looking for some good material on learning PHP. Here are a couple of links:
Easy-peasy PHP (recent)
PHP from the Ground Up (oldie, but goodie)
I’m a PHP novice myself at this point, but I’ve found these informative.

I turned a UF Web template into a WordPress theme by following the theme dissections at UrbanGiraffe:
Dissection of a WordPress theme: Part 1
Dissection of a WordPress theme: Part 2
Dissection of a WordPress theme: Part 3
It still needs more tweaking, but it’s great for starters.
