Fall ‘08 communigator going up

February 12th, 2009

The content from the Fall 2008 issue of communigator is in the process of Web production.
I once again wanted to do a more-extensive redesign of the site this time, but that didn’t happen. Or at least it didn’t happen for initial production. It might happen after the fact, though.
For the first time, however, I added [...]

Journalism Now podcast launched

February 4th, 2009

The College’s Center for Media Innovation and Research launched last week The Journalism Now Podcast, hosted and produced by my colleague and friend Dave Stanton.
I’m involved to the extent that I provide the Web server infrastructure for the site. The site was originally launched on one of our weakest servers. Last week before the podcast [...]

Spring ‘08 communigator done

July 30th, 2008

All the content from the Spring 2008 issue of communigator is now online. I wanted to do a more-extensive redesign of the site this time, but ended up in a time crunch on some early content so all the design changes were tweaks. They’re good tweaks, I believe.
Some articles received some special display effects courtesy [...]

communigator about done

April 8th, 2008

Except for two long list items, all the content from the Fall 2007 issue of communigator is now online. There is also still a little template clean-up for the issues’ tables of contents and the archive.
The addition of the hak_tinymce article editor plugin to the magazine’s Textpattern instance was a big help.

communigator content starts going up

January 22nd, 2008

The first batch of stories from the Fall 2007 communigator were released to the Web this afternoon.
Each issue is a new “section” in the magazine’s instance of the Textpattern content management system.
The biggest workflow change with this issue (so far) is the addition of the hak_tinymce article editor plugin.

Spring communigator is “glossy complete”

August 6th, 2007

All stories from the glossy pages of the Spring 2007 communigator are now published online. A couple of non-glossy stories and tweaking the table of contents (and probably also some CSS issues) are all that remain.

communigator content starts going up

June 20th, 2007

The first batch of stories from the Spring communigator were released to the Web Friday afternoon.
It’s now inside its own Textpattern instance. I debated (in my head) moving it into the College News system (as a “Section”), but decided against it. With Textpattern comes an RSS feed.
Within Textpattern, each issue will be a Section until [...]

Audience-oriented navigation launched

June 4th, 2007

In stage two of something bigger (stage one), some audience-oriented navigation elements were launched on the College site. In the upper-right corner of the lower part of the home page, we now have “Information for…” links. The links are (with notes about how the pages were created):

Prospective students – This is a new page.
Alumni & [...]

New Orange&Blue published

May 31st, 2007

The Spring 2007 online edition of Orange&Blue magazine was moved to the production server yesterday and hooked up to the College Web site this morning. Another great job by the IML students (and the magazine students that give them good stuff to work with).

Hooking up to the UF Campus Map

May 10th, 2007

I stumbled upon information today about how to link to a building’s location on the UF Campus Map. The instructions were about as clear as mud, but I figured them out and there is now a link to the spot on the Virtual Tour page.
I have actually been thinking this week about actually doing something [...]
