Six days at a summer journalism workshop on a college campus can be spent several different ways. Whether it's meeting new people, focusing on class assignments or spending time alone, many teenagers at the Summer Journalism Institute are making the most of their time here.

"I spend most of my free time working on my broadcasting assignment," said Megan Potter, a senior at American Heritage High in Plantation, Fla.
While some assignments are time-consuming, many participants are finding new ways to spend their free time doing more social and recreational activities.
"I spend my time making friends and talking to people," said Jordan Snyder, a junior at Coral Gables High in Miami, Fla.
Several students find different ways of passing the time spent away from class, although activities such as playing pool and hanging out in the Beaty Commons are among the most popular.
"I do a lot of walking around the campus, and I sit and sunbathe by the Century Tower," said Sandra Van Gorden, a senior at Kolbe Cathedral High in Bridgeport, Conn.
Although many students find socializing entertaining, others find spending time alone peaceful.
"[In my free time] I go back to the dorm and listen to music or explore the campus," said Nicole Hennegar, a senior at Bayside High in Palm Bay, Fla.
On-campus stores such as the Hub, the university's bookstore and souvenir shop, are another attraction to visiting students here at the University of Florida.
While some activities change in new surroundings, others will

"Chasing girls is definitely my favorite hobby, though, both here and at home," Snyder said.
