During
our stay at the University of Florida, we were treated to the superior
knowledge of experienced journalism veterans in the luxurious Gannett
Auditorium.
The students
at the summer journalism institute were privileged enough to have
heard Michael Foley, on the importance of
journalism; Mitch Stacy, on the art of interviewing;
Wayne Garcia, on web publishing and finding
facts online; Kim Walsh-Childers,
on journalistic ethics; Dede Smith, on the
art of thinking visually; Charles Harris,
getting into college; Renee Dietrich,
on the basics of publishing design; and Laurence
Alexander, on lessons in free speech.
